Skipjack and Vaname Shrimp, Indonesian Fishery Products Most Exported in March 2017

FPIK, SEMARANG – From the latest data released by the Fish Quarantine Agency, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (BKIPM) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Indonesia exported 81,916.31 tonnes of dead fishery products throughout March 2017. While the total volume of product exports live fisheries from Indonesia as many as 509,887,680 individuals. Indonesia’s total imports of dead fishery products reached 37,424.34 tons in March 2017. Meanwhile, the total import volume of live fishery products was 23,375 heads. An interesting fact is found, Indonesia imports quite a lot of Vannamei shrimp broodstock from the United States. However, the volume of Vannamei shrimp exports from Indonesia to America is also very high.

The categories of live fishery products that were mostly exported by Indonesia to other countries in March 2017 were as follows:

  • Milkfish seeds 497,768,000 heads (97.62% of the total export volume of live fishery products). The main destination countries were the Philippines (77.86%), Taiwan (19.95%), and Singapore (1.67%).
  • Seawater Ornamental Fish 4,444,610 individuals (0.87%). The main destination countries were China (15.13%), the United States (6.67%), and Singapore (5.5%).
  • Freshwater Ornamental Fish 3,584,174 individuals (0.70%). The main destination countries were Japan (19.75%), Singapore (16.78%), the United States (12.34%), Germany (7.66%), and China (6.24%).
  • Seed grouper 738,995 tails (0.14%). The main destination countries were Vietnam (42.95%), Malaysia (17.13%) and Taiwan (7.56%).
  • 571,459 crabs (0.11%. The main destination countries are Malaysia (58.49%), Singapore (17.86%), Hong Kong (11.80%) and China (10.80%).
  • Ornamental Shrimp 323,530 tails (0.06%). The main destination countries were Japan (19.47%), United States (10.45%), United Kingdom (7.83%), Germany (7.66%) and China (6.24%).
  • Seed of Cantang Grouper 308,715 individuals (0.06%). The main destination countries were Malaysia (59.47%), Thailand (19.80%), and Singapore (13.93%).
  • Grouper 308,120 fish (0.06%). The main destination countries are Hong Kong (76.67%), Malaysia (15.27%), Singapore (7.57%). The categories of dead fishery products that were mostly exported by Indonesia to other countries in March 2017 were as follows:
  • Skipjack tuna 8,137.04 tons (9.93% of the total export volume of dead fishery products). The main destination countries were Japan (49.87%), Thailand (17.14%), Spain (6.61%), and Italy (5.78%).
  • Vaname Shrimp 6,655.42 tons (8.13%). The main destination countries are the United States (70.50%), Japan (10.94%), and Vietnam (5.06%).
  • Tuna 6,267.44 tons (7.65%). The main destination countries are the United States (17.26%), Thailand (16.28%), and Japan (11.44%).
  • Frozen Fish 6,144.03 tons (7.50%). The main destination countries were China (27.66%), Vietnam (13.80%), and Taiwan (12.10%).
  • Squid 5,579.32 tonnes (6.81%). The main destination countries are China (42.25%), Vietnam (20.40%) and Taiwan (14.24%).

The largest imports of live fisheries commodities to Indonesia throughout March 2017 are:

  • 19,240 cichlids (82.31%) which were entirely imported from Taiwan.
  • 1,487 Koi fish (6.36%) which are entirely imported from Japan.
  • 1,126 lobster tails (4.82%) imported from Canada (73.36%) and the United States (26.64%).
  • 1,114 broodstock of Vannamei Shrimp (4.77%), all of which were imported from the United States. The largest imports of non-living fishery commodities to Indonesia throughout March 2017 were:
  • Frozen fish 10,153.29 tons (27.13%) imported mostly from China (88.69%), Pakistan (2.90%) and Vietnam (2.46%).
  • 9,233.06 tonnes (24.67%) of mackerel were imported from China (83.49%) and Japan (12.00%).
  • Sardines of 6,192.43 tons (16.55%) were imported mostly from Oman (51.93%), Pakistan (29.03%) and China (11.07).
  • Feed raw materials 3,020.46 tons (26.47%) imported mostly from the United States (63.50%), Peru (16.51%) and Vietnam (7.01%).
  • Most of the 2,407.39 tonnes (6.43%) of fish meal were imported from Thailand (59.22%), Mauritania (8.31%), Peru (8.31%) and Vietnam (7.79%).
  • Mackerel 1,770.44 tons (4.73%) which are entirely imported from China.
  • 1,659 tonnes (4.43%) of Squid Flour imported from South Korea.
