Semarang, July 18, 2026 – The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), has further strengthened its international academic network through a Visiting Professor Program held as part of Universitas Diponegoro’s World Class University (WCU) initiative. The program took place from July 10–18, 2026, and featured Assoc. Prof. Marie Louise Nydam from Soka University of America, California, United States, an expert in ascidian taxonomy, phylogenetics, and molecular biology.
The program was designed to enhance research capacity, expand international academic collaboration, and strengthen UNDIP’s academic reputation through high-quality scholarly publications. FPIK UNDIP and Assoc. Prof. Nydam have established a strong academic partnership through joint research projects and international publications, making the visiting professor program an important opportunity to deepen and expand their ongoing collaboration.
During her visit, Assoc. Prof. Nydam participated in a range of academic activities, including a workshop on ascidian morphological and molecular identification, public lectures for students and lecturers, a scientific manuscript writing clinic, manuscript development for international publication, and research discussions focusing on marine biodiversity and evolutionary biology.
The academic sessions provided opportunities for students and researchers to engage directly with international expertise while exchanging perspectives on current developments in marine science. The program also created a platform for discussing potential joint research projects and exploring opportunities for broader academic exchange between FPIK UNDIP and international partner institutions.
Through the Visiting Professor Program, FPIK UNDIP aims to strengthen the research capabilities of its academic community, promote high-quality international publications, and expand opportunities for collaborative research and academic exchange at the global level.
The program also reflects Universitas Diponegoro’s continued commitment to strengthening international partnerships as part of its broader World Class University agenda. By fostering sustained collaboration with leading international academics and institutions, FPIK UNDIP continues to contribute to UNDIP’s ambition to enhance its global academic presence and move toward the world’s top 500 universities.
