Dean of FPIK Undip Leads Indonesia’s FKPTPK

JIMBARAN, Bali – Prof. Agus Trianto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) at Universitas Diponegoro, has officially been appointed as the Interim Chair of the Indonesian Forum for Fisheries and Marine Higher Education Institutions (FKPTPK) until October 2026. The appointment was announced during the FKPTPK Forum Meeting held at Universitas Udayana from May 18–21, 2026.

Prof. Agus Trianto succeeds Prof. Dr. Ir. Fredinan Yulianda, M.Sc., who completed his term of leadership in the previous period. The annual FKPTPK forum was attended by hundreds of university leaders from across Indonesia representing institutions with academic and research focuses in fisheries and marine sciences.

In his inaugural speech as the newly elected chair, Prof. Agus Trianto expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the trust given by all forum members. He emphasized that leadership within FKPTPK is a shared responsibility that requires synergy and collaboration among all member institutions.

According to him, strengthening cooperation among higher education institutions is a strategic step toward supporting the sustainable development of Indonesia’s fisheries and marine sectors. He also encouraged all forum members to continue enhancing collaboration in education, research, and community service to address global challenges in the maritime sector.

During the gala dinner attended by Bali Governor I Wayan Koster and the Rector of Universitas Udayana, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., Prof. Agus Trianto conveyed his appreciation for the warm hospitality and strong support provided by the Bali Provincial Government and Universitas Udayana as the host institution of the event.

He also highlighted the importance of Balinese local wisdom in preserving marine and coastal ecosystems. According to him, the culture and philosophy of the Balinese people can serve as an inspiration for sustainable marine resource management in Indonesia.

FKPTPK serves as a coordination forum among Indonesian higher education institutions that offer academic and research programs in fisheries and marine sciences. The forum plays a significant role in strengthening academic policy synergy, improving the quality of higher education, and promoting collaborative research to support sustainable marine resource management.

Under this new leadership, FKPTPK is expected to further strengthen academic and research collaborations at both national and international levels. In addition, the forum is anticipated to contribute to national priority programs, including marine-based food security and the development of the blue economy.
