SEMARANG – The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) at Diponegoro University (Undip) successfully hosted a National Symposium on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the FPIK Undip Auditorium on the Tembalang Campus in Semarang. Under the theme “The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Ensuring Food Safety and Quality as well as Supply Chain Stability,” the event served as a platform for cross-sectoral discussion, bringing together experts from various national institutions.

This seminar, designed in the format of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD), featured two keynote speakers: the Head of the Indonesian Quarantine Agency, Abdul Kadir Karding, S.Pi., M.Si., and the Deputy for Systems and Governance at the National Nutrition Agency, Dr. Ir. Tigor Pangaribuan. Their presence underscores the importance of collaboration between the academic community, the government, and relevant agencies in ensuring the quality and safety of the nation’s food supply.
This event also brought together various cross-sectoral stakeholders as part of a strategic collaboration to support national priority programs, particularly regarding the provision of safe and sustainable nutritious food. The seminar was attended by experts from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), the Central Java Regional Police, the IV/Diponegoro Military Command, PT Perikanan Indonesia, as well as academics from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) and the Faculty of Animal Science and Agriculture (FPP) at the University of Diponegoro.


The discussion session featured several expert speakers. Dr. Ir. Woro Nur Endang, M.P., Secretary of the Agency for the Control of Marine and Fisheries Product Quality (BPPMHKP) at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), presented on quality standards for marine products. Prof. Dr. Ir. Eko Nurchaya D., M.Sc., an academic at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) at the University of Diponegoro (Undip), discussed the nutritional value of fishery commodities, while Yoga Pratama, S.TP., M.Sc., Ph.D., from the Faculty of Agriculture (FPP) at Undip, addressed agricultural and livestock commodities.
From the perspective of safety and distribution, Senior Commissioner of Police Dr. Noviana Tursanurohmad, S.I.K., M.Si., Head of Human Resources at the Central Java Regional Police, presented distribution strategies to ensure the quality of food shipments. Lt. Col. Inf. Guvta Alugoro Koedoes, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations at the IV/Diponegoro Military Command, highlighted the role of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in supporting food security, while the CEO of PT Perikanan Indonesia, Titik Mustikasari, S.Pi., CWM, provided a technical overview of the fisheries supply chain.
Academics and practitioners offered various critical insights and constructive recommendations regarding the strengthening of the food safety system, the improvement of fishery product quality, and the importance of inter-institutional collaboration in maintaining the stability of the national supply chain. Through this event, FPIK Undip reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to the resolution of national strategic issues through academic and collaborative approaches, as well as supporting research- and science-based national policies, particularly in the fields of fisheries and marine affairs. This national seminar is expected to serve as a platform for synergy among academics, the government, and industry in formulating concrete solutions to realize a safe, high-quality, and sustainable food system.
