Field Visit: Faculty of Agriculture of UNSRI Visits FPIK UNDIP

On Tuesday (28/5) the Fisheries Product Technology study program from the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, conducted a field visit to the Fisheries Product Technology study program of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Diponegoro University. This visit aimed to conduct an educational tour and strengthening the relationship between fellow Fisheries Product Technology study programs. The group from Sriwijaya University, led by Prof. Dr. Rinto, S.Pi., M.P., along with lecturers and students, were welcomed at the Auditorium Building of FPIK Undip.

Prof. Dr. Rinto, S.Pi., M.P., expressed his joy as FPIK Undip warmly welcomed the visit from the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. He hoped that during their visit to FPIK Undip, especially to the Fisheries Product Technology study program, lecturers and students could gain as much knowledge as possible for the advancement of the Fisheries Product Technology program at UNSRI. The Dean of FPIK Undip, Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc., Ph.D., in her brief opening remarks, also extended her greetings to the UNSRI team and hoped that this visit would leave a positive impression for both parties.

Then, the Head of the Fisheries Product Technology Program of FPIK Undip, Dr. Putut Har Riyadi, S.Pi., M.Si., gave a brief introduction about the Fisheries Product Technology program and its laboratory facilities, which would later be visited by the students from UNSRI. This explanation provided an in-depth overview of the facilities and excellence of the Fisheries Product Technology study program, which could be an inspiration for the guests from UNSRI.

The event continued with an exchange of keepsakes between the two institutions as a symbol of friendship. The activities concluded with a group photo and a visit to the Functional Food Laboratory and Packaging Laboratory of the Fisheries Product Technology study program. This visit is expected to strengthen the relationship between the two faculties and provide scientific benefits for the development of the Fisheries Product Technology study program in Indonesia.

FPIK Team Successfully Sweeps Multiple Achievements at The FAPERTA Fair 5

FPIK, SEMARANG – Five students of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) and one student of the Vocational School of Diponegoro University managed to win several categories at the Futuristics and Prestige Research, Technology and Art (FAPERTA) Fair 5 competition which took place on 18-19 May 2024 at Dhyana Pura University, Bali. The FAPERTA Fair is a national level essay competition organised by Sentosa Foundation. In this competition, the team consisted of five students of FPIK and one student from the vocational school won Gold Medal in the Environmental theme (Essay category), Silver Medal in the HSE theme (Poster category), Bronze Medal in the Environmental theme (Essay category), Bronze Medal in the Technology theme (Essay category), and became 3rd Runner Up. The five FPIK students who successfully achieved these achievements are students from the Capture Fisheries Department, namely:

  4. Andrew Rafael Kristanto (2023)
  5. Zulfa Arya Ramadhani (2023)

Aside from the hard work of the brilliant students, their success in winning several categories is also supported by the lecturer, faculty, and Bank Jateng which also provided sponsorship to the FPIK team in participating in the competition. With this national level achievement through FAPERTA Fair 5, Adji as Team Leader hopes to be able to participate in other national or international level competitions. Adji believes that he and his fellow FPIK students can achieve even better achievements in the future. ‘I also hope that FPIK as a Faculty can continue to show support to students who want to develop and excel in their respective fields,’ he said. Hopefully in the future there will be more students from FPIK Undip who can make such achievements.

Cooperation Agreement between FPIK Undip and Indosat Ooredoo on Mangrove Conservation Digitalization Program

FPIK, SEMARANG – Monday (27/5) Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Diponegoro (FPIK Undip) Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc., Ph.D accompanied by the Vice Deans of FPIK, Prof. Agus Trianto, Msc., Ph.D. and Prof. Dr. Ir. Aristi Dian Purnama Fitri, S.Pi., M.Si. have signed the Cooperation Agreement as well as the implementation of the Mangrove Conservation Digitalization program between FPIK Undip and PT Indosat Tbk represented by Muhammad Buldansyah, as Director and Chief Business Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison. Located at the Entrepreneurship Building Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Business, the signing of this collaboration is a form of joint commitment in supporting mangrove conservation and environmental preservation by utilising the Internet of Things (IoT).

This event was also attended by Vice Rector 2, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Heru Susanto, ST, MM, MT. as a representative of Diponegoro University, representatives of the Demak Regional Government and students of Undip. In his opening remarks, Prof Heru Susanto said that this collaboration can certainly have a positive impact on the environment. In addition, Director and Chief Business Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Muhammad Buldansyah said that the increasing impact of coastal abrasion issues is a warning that needs to be addressed immediately. ‘Through this Mangrove Conservation Digitalization program, Indosat is committed to supporting efforts in protecting coastal areas and mangrove ecosystems’ he said. The Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc., Ph.D also gladly welcomed the collaboration with Indosat and hoped that the implementation of the Mangrove Conservation Digitalisation program can run optimally, so as to have a positive impact on environmental conservation, and also the economy of the northern coastal communities of Java Island.

Sekolah Pantai Indonesia Holds Technical Guidance at FPIK Undip

On Wednesday (15/5) the first day of the Technical Guidance activity for Sekolah Pantai Indonesia was held at Building D, FPIK Undip, Tembalang. This activity is an activity organized by the Directorate General of Marine Management and Marine Spaces of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. The Technical Guidance is held from May 15-17 2024 at FPIK, attended by representatives from the Directorate of Coastal and Small Island Utilization, BMKG of Central Java, LPSPL Serang, Marine and Fisheries Agency of Prov. Riau, Marine and Fisheries Agency of Prov. North Sumatra, Agriculture, Food, and Marine Affairs Agency of Tanjungpinang, Marine and Fisheries Agency of Central Tapanuli Regency, participants from SMA N 5 Tanjungpinang, SMA N 1 Tapanuli Tengah, and two lecturers from FPIK Undip, namely Dr. Drs. Rudhi Pribadi and Dr. Dwi Haryanti, S.Kel., M.Sc. as speakers. This Technical Guidance is held to support the Sekolah Pantai Indonesia (SPI) 2024 activity by providing SPI Facilitators with material briefing and understanding of the 4A implementation method. With this Technical Guidance activity, it is hoped that the facilitators can assist the implementation of SPI activities properly.

FPIK, SEMARANG – On Thursday (2/5) an Open Senate Meeting for FPIK Dean Candidates’ Work Programs presentation was held at the FPIK Undip Auditorium Building, Tembalang Campus. The Open Senate Meeting held by the Senate of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science of Diponegoro University aimed to present the work programs of dean candidates of FPIK Undip for the 2024-2029 Period. The presentation of the Dean Candidate Work Programme was attended by the academic community in the Undip FPIK environment, namely students, lecturers, and staffs. The event began with an opening hosted by Mrs Cahya Ranuhapsari, S.H., as the MC. Then continued with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Ir. Sarjito, M.App.Sc. as the Leader of the FPIK Senate. Prof. Sarjito said that the Open Senate Meeting was held with so that the FPIK academic community can get a chance to know the dean candidates and the candidates’ work programs. The Dean of FPIK Undip for the 2019-2024 period, Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc., also expressed her hope that her next successor can bring FPIK to a better level, both at the national and international levels. The event then moved to the presentation of the work programs of the dean candidates guided by Prof. Dra. Norma Afiati, M.Sc., Ph.D. as moderator.

Prof. Agus Trianto, ST, MSc, Ph.D., as one of the dean candidates was the first to present his work programs. He emphasized that FPIK has many things that need to be improved to become a global faculty, one of which is by improving and adding modern facilities within the faculty environment as one of FPIK’s re-branding efforts. Meanwhile, the next dean candidate, Prof. Dr. Denny Nugroho Sugianto, S.T., M.Si. said that one of the crucial problems faced by FPIK Undip is the lack of foreign students studying at FPIK Undip. After the presentation of each dean candidate was over, the panellists, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Slamet Budi Prayitno, M.Sc., Prof. Ir. Muslim, M.Sc., Ph.D., Prof. Ir. Tri Winarni Agustini, M.Sc., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Ir. Diah Permata Wijayanti, M.Sc., as well as a representative from the FPIK Undip Student Executive Board asked several questions to the two dean candidates. After the panellists asked questions, the event continued with a Q&A session between the dean candidates and the audience. Then, the event was closed by the Leader of the FPIK Undip Senate with the hope that whoever will be elected as the next dean will be able to bring positive changes and progress to FPIK Undip.

UNDIP 174th Graduation Ceremony

FPIK, SEMARANG – On Wednesday (24/4) Diponegoro University (UNDIP) held its 174th graduation ceremony which was held at the Muladi Dome Building, Undip Tembalang campus. The graduation ceremony was held in 4 (four) stages on April 23 to 26 April 2024. The graduation ceremony was attended by 181 graduates of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) from the Marine Science, Oceanography, Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources Management, Fishery Product Technology and Capture Fisheries study programs, consisting of 168 graduates from undergraduate program, 12 graduates from master program, and 1 from doctoral program. In this graduation period, 1 graduate from the Bachelor program of Oceanography study program, Salsabila Aulia Putri, who is also one of the best graduates with the cumlaude title, was appointed as a reader of the Janji Alumni which was then followed by all other graduates.

Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., Rector of Diponegoro University congratulated the graduates and their parents on their achievements because they have now successfully reached the graduation point. As he’s been saying, it is believed that Diponegoro University graduates will be able to implement the knowledge they have gained with integrity and they will be able to compete professionally, based on the results of QS Ranking for Employability 2021-2022, and Top 8 National Rank for World University Rank 2023 according to QS WUR, which states that UNDIP graduates are the fastest to get employed compared to graduates from other universities. FPIK as part of Undip will always hold onto its commitment to improve the quality and credibility of its education so that it can produce the best graduates who will become the main drivers of the country’s progress in the fields of education, economy, welfare, humanity, and so on at the national and international levels.
