FPIK, Semarang – September 22, 2025 – Diponegoro University proudly launched the International Tropical Summer Course (ITroSCo) 2025, an international academic program that brings together students, lecturers, researchers, and practitioners from around the world to engage in discussions, learning, and collaboration on global issues related to the tropics, culture, and sustainable development.
This year’s program carries the theme “Sustainable Aquaculture and Coastal System.” The Opening Ceremony was held online via Zoom on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 14.00 to 17.00 WIB, and was attended by participants from multiple countries.
The event began with the screening of Diponegoro University’s profile video, followed by introductions to the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, the ITroSCo program, the teaser of ITroSCo 2025, and the official ITroSCo song. Afterward, the program was officially opened with a welcoming speech from Hendrik Anggi Setyawan, S.Pi., M.Si., Head of the ITroSCo 2025 Committee.
The ceremony continued with remarks from Prof. Agus Trianto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, and Dessy Ariyanti, S.T., M.T., representing the Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Public Communication. The participants were then introduced through a dedicated video, followed by the introduction of buddies and committees who will accompany and support them throughout the program.
Following the opening session, ITroSCo 2025 commenced its first lecture session with Dr. Tita Elfitasari, S.Pi., M.Sc. as the keynote speaker. She presented the topic “Cultural Heritage Embedded in Fashion and Buildings in Jepara City”. The session sparked engaging discussions and inspired participants to reflect on how cultural heritage can be preserved and reimagined in modern contexts.

Throughout the coming weeks, ITroSCo 2025 will feature a diverse range of lectures, interactive workshops, group discussions, cultural exchange activities, and student project presentations. The program is designed not only to broaden academic knowledge but also to strengthen cross-cultural understanding and foster international collaboration among participants.
