Semarang, 27 November 2025 — The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) at Diponegoro University welcomed a delegation from SMK Perikanan dan Kelautan Jember. The welcoming ceremony, held at the FPIK Auditorium on the Tembalang Campus, was attended by 50 students and 10 accompanying teachers. The visit aimed to provide students with insight into academic life at Diponegoro University, particularly in the fields of fisheries and marine sciences, as well as to introduce various opportunities for academic and personal development available at Undip.

In his remarks, the Dean of FPIK Undip, Prof. Agus Trianto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., explained that FPIK has established strategic collaborations with various partners in Japan. Through these partnerships, students have the opportunity to receive internship scholarships in aquaculture and fishery product processing.
“Every year, several students depart for Japan. We hope these international opportunities will enhance the quality of our graduates and broaden their global experience,” Prof. Agus stated. He also expressed his hope that the visit would provide students with a clear picture of academic life at FPIK Undip and encourage them to pursue higher education in fisheries and marine sciences.
Representing SMK Perikanan dan Kelautan Jember, Drs. H. Djupriyanto, M.Si., Vice Manager for Quality Management, conveyed that the students were particularly interested in the Fishery Products Technology Study Program (TBPK), especially due to the availability of dormitory facilities located near the beach and a learning environment that supports hands-on practical activities.
Following the welcoming session, the event continued with a presentation about Diponegoro University and specifically FPIK, delivered by FPIK students. The group then proceeded to visit two laboratories (the Functional Food Laboratory and the Fishing Gear Laboratory) where they observed the facilities, practical equipment, and research activities conducted within FPIK.

Through this visit, participants were able to gain firsthand experience of the practical facilities, research instruments, and academic activities taking place in the two laboratories. The visit is expected to give students a clearer understanding of academic life at Undip and broaden their perspectives on future opportunities in the fisheries and marine sectors.
