Semarang, FPIK Undip — Another proud achievement has been secured by students of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), Diponegoro University. Makaira, a student-led startup from the Fisheries Product Technology program at FPIK Undip, won First Place in the Services and Trade Category – Growing Stage at the prestigious national competition Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship (KMI) Expo XVI 2025.
The event, organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, serves as a national platform that brings together student entrepreneurs from across the country to compete, showcase their innovative products, and build business networks. Carrying the theme “Local Spirit, National Work: Student Entrepreneurship within the Framework of Nusantara Culture,” the KMI Expo XVI 2025 took place from 17–21 November 2025, gathering thousands of students from 270 universities across Indonesia in Magelang City. This national-scale event was officially opened on Thursday (20 November 2025) at the Sidotopo Campus of Tidar University (Untidar).

Makaira was established as a small-scale business initiated by FPIK Undip students who developed modern product innovations using environmentally friendly approaches. Under the guidance of A. Suhaeli Fahmi, S.Pi., M.Sc., Makaira successfully created value-added products that are not only well-received by the market but also support sustainable resource management.
This victory reaffirms the ability of FPIK Undip students to compete at the national level through creative, innovative, and impactful ideas. Makaira’s achievement also highlights FPIK Undip’s commitment to fostering young entrepreneurs who are professional, highly competitive, and environmentally conscious.
FPIK Undip extends its congratulations to the Makaira Team for this remarkable accomplishment. It is hoped that Makaira’s success at the 2025 KMI Expo XVI will inspire other students to continue creating and innovating.
